Neutropenia
Neutropenia is a disorder distinguished by low neutrophil granulocyte counts. Neutrophils make up over half of the white blood cells and fight infection by destroying bacteria in the blood. Neutropenia patients require prompt attention due to their vulnerability to bacterial infections. Without medical attention, neutropenia may become life-threatening. If the condition continues longer than 3 months, the patient's neutropenia is chronic rather than acute.
